The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a few casualties during their team scrimmage. Among them was running back Ronald Jones after he was forced to exit early with an injury to his left foot.

Jones was seen on the sideline with a wrap over his foot for the remainder of the scrimmage. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, head coach Bruce Arians says none of the injuries suffered are deemed to be too serious:

“We’ll have to see but I don’t think either one of them are serious,” Arians said.

This is certainly an encouraging update from Arians given the start of the 2020 NFL season is just weeks away. He has been optimistic about Jones' potential since his arrival and it paid off with a promising 2019 campaign.

Aside from Jones, cornerback Carlton Davis also suffered right shoulder injury but is not expected to miss any time. Although the Bucs managed to dodge a bullet, it is safe to assume they will take a cautious approach with both players heading into the 2020 campaign given their status as starters. Their temporary absence from practice should provide the backups with an opportunity to get some more quality reps in before the season begins.

Running back LeSean McCoy is slated to serve as a change-of-pace option to Jones. Having such versatile weapons in the backfield should help pay huge dividends for quarterback Tom Brady. Meanwhile, cornerbacks Jamel Dean, Herb Miller, and rookie Parnell Motley will try to establish an integral role in the rotation.
