The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a splash with the signing of former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. It appears his reputation in Tampa Bay already precedes him.

According to ESPN's Jenna Laine, Brady has already been embraced by the likes of linebacker Lavonte David:

“Tom Brady is an icon and a winner. Excited to have a guy with that type of pedigree in our locker room. Looking forward to the upcoming battles.”

Players can often have mixed feelings about watching such significant changes take place under center. Despite being one of the league's leading pacers in the 2019 NFL season, quarterback Jameis Winston has essentially become an afterthought once the Bucs became the frontrunners to land the services of Tom Brady. Regardless, it is clear that Brady's arrival has given players a reason to be excited.

David's comments are indicative of the newfound hope that is starting to brew in Tampa Bay. After all, signing the most decorated player in NFL history provides a major boost for a potential resurgence. Pair that with the high-powered supporting cast that is already in place and the team has good reason to be confident.

Tampa Bay did not experience very much winning behind Winston over the last several years. Players like Lavonte David have long been waiting for an opportunity to showcase their talent on the biggest stage in the postseason. It is safe to say that expectations are now higher than ever going into the 2020 campaign. Tom Brady does that.
