The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached an agreement with rookie offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Tampa Bay selected the former Iowa product with the 13th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, giving Tom Brady some added protection as he prepares for his debut with the Bucs.

Wirfs garnered a reputation as one of the strongest players and most athletic players at the position during the buildup to the draft. He had the fastest 40-yard dash of any offensive lineman, with a tremendous vertical leap as well. Wirfs even jumped out of a pool!

Now, the rookie will get set for camp as the Buccaneers embark on the 2020 campaign with Super Bowl expectations.

Brady is hardly the only marquee addition to the offense. Tampa Bay also acquired former All-Pro tight end, Rob Gronkowski, from the New England Patriots, reuniting “Gronk” with his old quarterback.

The Buccaneers have some of the best talent of any team in the league at the skill positions, with Pro Bowlers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out wide, Gronkowski running the seam and Ronald Jones as a very capable receiver out of the backfield.

That said, all the talent in the world will not make a difference for Brady if he cannot get protection.

Pro Football Focus ranked the Buccaneers' offensive line as the seventh-best in football last season. However, the ranking stems mostly from highly-graded players on the interior, such as center Ryan Jensen.

Wirfs' athleticism should serve him well, though he will have to get on the same page with Brady from the jump.
