Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo recently won Defensive Player of the Year 2019-20 campaign. Most experts and analysts were fine with The Greek Freak winning the award, but one anonymous All-Star suggested that it should have gone to someone else.

The aforementioned All-Star feels that Antetokounmpo is not “a lockdown defender who shuts down other stars,” so he shouldn't get the award:

As noted, this conversations stems from Giannis not guarding Jimmy Butler down the stretch as the Miami Heat star roasted the Bucks in Game 1 of their second-round series. The Bucks star is taking heat from all angles for this.

Looking at the regular season, Antetokounmpo was a beast on the defensive end, but it didn't really show up in terms of individual stats. He averaged just a block and a steal per game, so his defensive contributions more had to do with team defense and how he helped the Bucks boast the No. 1 defense in the NBA.

While impressive, should this have really been enough for him to win DPOY?

Many thought Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis was robbed of the award. Davis averaged 2.3 blocks and 1.5 steals as part of a stout Lakers defense. The other finalist, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert, swatted 2.0 shots per game.

It's a bit too late to speculate now, though, as Giannis has already been given the award. Still, the conversation surrounding this topic rages on.

Giannis and the Bucks will need to up their defensive game against the Heat moving forward. That could feature Antetokounmpo guarding Butler. Let's see what kind of adjustments Milwaukee makes for this crucial game.

The two sides will be back in action on Wednesday night. Tip-off inside the NBA's bubble complex is set for 6:30 p.m. ET, with ESPN having live broadcast coverage.
