Greg Monroe will be signed to a 10-day contract by the Milwaukee Bucks. Monroe was a former lottery pick who played for Milwaukee for two seasons.

Brook Lopez has not played since the opening game of the season due to back surgery, and the Bucks also elected not to sign DeMarcus Cousins to a full deal, resulting in his release and joining the Denver Nuggets. Greg Monroe has been a more than competent center during his career, averaging 13.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

The Bucks' choice to bring back Greg Monroe is intriguing. There may be some concerns in Milwaukee right now because they are unable to reach an agreement for a center and are looking for someone to fill that role until Brook Lopez returns. The most important thing this Milwaukee team needs around the trade deadline is a backup center, perhaps a backup point guard, and someone who can shoot the 3-point shot at a high level.

This isn't necessarily a bad signing for Milwaukee, but it is intriguing. This might indicate that they did not discover what they were seeking for at the trade deadline and are considering signing a different center, such as Greg Monroe, to a full deal for the rest of the season in order to save money or maintain some of their younger players and most valuable trade assets. Milwaukee might have another deal up their sleeves that isn't a center, so they went out and got someone they thought could work for them.
