Wednesday night did not turn out according to plan for the Milwaukee Bucks as they lost in a blowout to the Detroit Pistons, 110-87. They also saw their best player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, forced to exit the game early because of an eye injury he suffered in the fourth quarter.

After attacking the basket hard and missing a layup, The Greek Freak tried to follow up his miss with a tip against three Pistons players surrounding him inside the paint. However, he failed to do so as he was fouled, but not before he fell to the floor and immediately held his face.

A replay showed clearly that he was poked inadvertently in the right eye by Stanley Johnson.Antetokounmpo went to the locker room and did not return as his eye was almost shut with the hit it took.

According to an ESPN report, Antetokounmpo is expected to be re-evaluated on Thursday and undergo some tests to check on the extent of the injury. It's still unclear whether he'll be available to play on Friday against the Indiana Pacers, as it will all depend on how his eye will be in the next day.

The Bucks have now lost three straight games and are only a game ahead of the Miami Heat for seventh place in the Eastern Conference. The two-time All-Star's presence on the floor goes beyond words for his team as he is relied upon heavily night in and night out to score and create easy shots for his teammates.

An update from the Bucks is expected to be released as soon as more details emerge on the severity of the injury. The Milwaukee faithful can only hope for now thatAntetokounmpo will be cleared to play in their next game, especially with the Bucks in a dogfight for a playoff spot this season.
