The 2022 NBA Slam Dunk Contest was ultimately a disaster, with fans leaving the event feeling less than impressed by this year's display. The Slam Dunk Contest has been trending downwards ever since the battle between Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon in 2016, and one NBA star seems to think he knows why. Milwaukee Bucks' MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo hilariously suggested that Stephen Curry was the cause for the collapse of the Dunk Contest, claiming that the Warriors' star “changed the game,” via NBA on TNT.

Giannis, alongside his brothers Thanasis and Alex, were seen courtside at the Dunk Contest, at which point the Bucks star jokingly tells Curry that he blames him for this year's lackluster showing.

With the rise in the volume of 3-point shooting in the NBA, for which Curry is largely responsible, it seems the art of dunking has taken a significant hit. Giannis seems to think there's a direct correlation between the two, and he's hilariously pointing the finger squarely in the direction of Curry.

New York Knicks' forward Obi Toppin was crowned the winner over Curry's Warriors' teammate Juan Toscano-Anderson, in what was ultimately considered to be an underwhelming performance from virtually every contestant. Houston Rockets' rookie Jalen Green and Orlando Magic point guard Cole Anthony were the first two eliminated from the competition.

The overall reaction from fans and players at the Dunk Contest on Saturday was much of the same, and it's clear the NBA needs to find a way to bring excitement back to what used to be the highlight of the All-Star Weekend.
