Giannis Antetokounmpo's dominance with the Milwaukee Bucks has propelled him into the MVP conversation once again, but for former NBA All-Star Kenyon Martin, that shouldn't be surprising anymore.
According to Martin, Antetokounmpo–much like Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James–is capable of being in the MVP talks every year with the way he plays.
“Listen, Giannis is the new LeBron. He can be in the MVP convo every season. And the only reason you don’t give it to him is because someone else is playing out of their mind that season. So yeah, a lot has to happen before they’re the favorites over Milwaukee,” Martin said of the Bucks forward, per Basketball News.
LeBron James has already won four MVP awards in his career, but there have been a lot of arguments that he should have won more. After all, he has established this reputation that whatever teams he joins becomes instant contenders.
Some even say that the only reason he doesn't have more MVPs is because people have been so used to his greatness that what he does looks normal in his standards.
As for Giannis Antetokounmpo, he has two MVP awards and and one Defensive Player of the Year honor. And at just 27 years old, there is no doubt he could add more to his list of individual accolades.
