Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston won’t be on the field for at least a couple of weeks. His team is hoping that the time off will be enough time to get his ailing shoulder right. While Winston spends time on the shelf, the offense will be it the hands of Ryan Fitzpatrick.

We don’t know if Winston’s injury, or the fact that it’s Fitzpatrick who’ll direct Tampa’s offense, concerns Bucs fans more, but the team is hoping they made the right call here, as they try to turn things around.

Fitzpatrick is set to make his first start this season on Sunday against the New York Jets, which the 34-year-old veteran signal-caller thinks is something that makes his career come full circle.

Per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

“It’s very ironic,” Fitzpatrick told the Daily News Monday after getting the nod to make his first start with his new team against his old team. “It encapsulates my career, basically. My first start as a Buccaneer, of course, comes versus the Jets with everything that happened there the last few years. My career has been a never-ending rollercoaster and one that I’ve loved every minute of along the way. So, I’ll definitely enjoy the challenge on Sunday.”

Before coming over to Tampa, Fitzpatrick spent two seasons as a starter for the Jets, in which he threw for 43 touchdowns against 32 interceptions. After his contract with the Jets expired, the Bucs signed the Harvard-educated Fitzpatrick to a one-year $1.75 million deal over the offseason.
