Only a few weeks out from the end of the regular season and the Buffalo Bills are 9-3, sitting at the top of the AFC East. That isn't a sentence that we're used to seeing.
A division that has been dominated by the New England Patriots over the last two decades is now owned by the Bills and it's great to finally see a change.
The Bills are slated to play the 11-1 Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14 and they have their hands full.
The Steelers are coming off a surprising loss to the Washington Football Team, ruining their perfect season aspirations. The Steelers will surely come out with a vengeance on Sunday after their first loss of the season.
Here are four bold predictions for the Bills' Week 14 matchup against the Steelers.
1. Bills defense will hold the Steelers to fewer than 20 points
The Bills' defense has been disappointing this season in comparison to last year. They went from being the second-best scoring defense last season to the 18th-best scoring defense this season.
Regardless of this statistical decline, this Bills defense is still capable of wreaking havoc on opposing offenses.
Just by personnel alone, the Bills have one of the most talented and versatile defenses in the NFL. Tre'Davious White has established himself as a top-five cornerback in the NFL, while Jerry Hughes and company are still getting to the quarterback.
The Steelers offense has struggled over the last two weeks. They've posted back-to-back performances with under 20 points scored and really miss James Conner's contribution in the backfield. Big Ben had trouble with Washington's constant quarterback pressure's and it's expected that he'll see more of the same from Buffalo.
Regardless of how this one ends, it will be a low-scoring game.
2. Bills will have over 140 yards rushing
The Bills have won games through the air this season and have struggled getting anything going on the ground. That will change in Week 14.
With both Devin Bush and Bud Dupree out for the season the Steelers have taken a big hit to their rush defense.
Last week the Washington Football Team lost their premier running back, Antonio Gibson, and steered clear of the run. This week, however, Devin Singletary and Zack Moss can provide the Bills with the punch on the ground that they need to open up their play action playbook.
Don't forget that Josh Allen can run the ball as well. The deeper the Steelers go down their linebacker depth chart the more difficult it is for them to get after quarterbacks who escape the pocket.
The Bills rushing attack will be a pleasant surprise for Buffalo on Sunday and run all over the top-tier Steelers defense
3. Cole Beasley will continue his Pro Bowl season
It's crazy that most football fans have completely overlooked how good Cole Beasley has been this season. Stefon Diggs is clearly the team's top wide receiver, but Cole Beasley has quietly made an argument to be the Bills most reliable pass-catcher.
Beasley has 66 receptions for 797 yards and four touchdowns this season playing in the slot. He's done a great job as an outlet for Allen when things aren't open downfield and rarely drops passes that come his way.
With Joe Haden and Mike Hilton getting preoccupied with Diggs and Gabriel Davis on the outside, Beasley should get plenty of targets on Sunday.
Look out for Beasley to have another big game for Buffalo.
4. Bills will hand the Steelers their second straight loss
The Steelers looked like an unbeatable defensive machine up until last week. Now, they are about to start their first losing streak of the season.
The Bills are coming off a big win in San Francisco and have won five of their last six games.
Josh Allen has been playing like a top-five quarterback in the NFL and the defense is finally coming together as a unit.
The Steelers on the other hand have looked shaky for two straight weeks. Their defense has been riddled with injury and James Conner's absence has hurt the Steelers ability to run the ball effectively.
All signs are pointing to the Bills handing the Steelers their second straight loss.
Overall
Regardless of how this game ends, the heavyweight matchup between the Bills and the Steelers is going to be a good one.
Both teams have elite defenses that do a great job against the pass so this game will likely be a ground-and-pound type of game.
With a win, Buffalo moves to 10-3 and takes command of their division. The Steelers losing on the other hand pushes them one game closer to losing their division lead to the Cleveland Browns. The 2020 NFL season is full of surprises.
