The Chicago Bulls came away with Matas Buzelis in the first round of the NBA Draft on Wednesday, just a few days after Arturas Karnisovas completed a trade for Josh Giddey with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the big question that remains is what the Bulls will do with DeMar DeRozan's potential unrestricted free agency. Karnisovas has said that re-signing DeRozan is in play in the past, but the closer we get to free agency starting, the odds seem to be shifting to him leaving.

“As I said before, we're gonna look at everything,” Arturas Karnisovas said, via KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. “Everything is on the table. And you know, it's still an option.”

The Bulls and Karnisovas are still shopping Zach LaVine as well, as the franchise looks to make changes after a few disappointing seasons. A rebuild seems in the cards for Chicago, which is what many fans have been asking for for an extended period of time. The trade for a younger guard in Josh Giddey by giving up Alex Caruso also signals that.

“When I last saw you guys (in April), I told you we needed to make changes,” Karnisovas said, via Johnson. “And we have started that process. While I cannot speak to all of the potential changes, it's hard to predict what we might look like in a week or two. … I'm happy that we were able to get this deal done and bring Josh to Chicago. Bringing a very talented guard that is an elite playmaker and rebounder with elite size, his game is predicated on making everyone better around him. Those guys are hard to find and they're not available. We were fortunate to get him. And it comes at the high prices, which was AC (Alex Caruso). I want to thank Alex for an amazing three years. He was great for the city of Chicago and Bulls organization. We wish him the best in Oklahoma City.”

The Bulls have a number of decisions to make, but it seems that the focus will turn to development, rather than chasing a play-in spot next season.

How will the Bulls start a rebuild?

Karnisovas took steps to add younger players to the roster by trading for Giddey and drafting Matas Buzelis, who join a roster that has Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, Dalen Terry and Julian Phillips. There remains questions regarding DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, but it seems very possible both that both of those players will depart. Karnisovas spoke on building for the long-term.

“I take my role of reshaping this team very seriously and (Wednesday) was an important step in that direction,” Karnisovas said, via Johnson. “As I've said everything is on the table. I want fans to know we are committed to the process of building a team for long-term success. We've made some initial changes this offseason and now our focus shifts on Friday to free agency. We can't predict exactly what's going to happen, but we're determined to strengthen our roster.”

It will be intriguing to see what the Bulls do with DeRozan and LaVine in the coming days.
