Countless tributes poured in for former Kentucky Wildcat standout Terrence Clarke following reports of his tragic death in a car accident in Los Angeles on Thursday. Among those who remembered the 19-year-old was Chicago Bulls guard Coby White, who shared a touching yet heartbreaking story with Clark.
As reported by KC Johnson of NBCS Chicago, White recalled how Clarke once peppered him with questions about what it's like making it to the NBA and told him he'll join him one day. Clarke, who declared for the upcoming NBA Draft last March, was expected to be a mid-to-late first round pick.
White also extended his condolences to Clarke's family and loved ones.
Clarke's best friend BJ Boston was with him before the unfortunate incident as both were coming off a workout. Boston was able to avoid the car crash since he was in a separate vehicle.
It wasn't that long ago when White was almost in the same shoes as Clarke. The 21-year-old scorer also spent a one-and-done stint in college with the North Carolina Tar Heels, before being drafted by the Bulls as the seventh overall pick in 2019. It's sad to think Clarke would have likely followed White's footsteps.
Clarke averaged 9.6 points on 42.1 percent shooting from the field, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in eight games for the Wildcats. White, meanwhile, is norming 14.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 55 games in his sophomore season with the Bulls.
Coby White and Terrence Clarke actually have similar playing styles. But unfortunately, fans are now deprived of a possible meeting between the two talented guards.
