Chicago Bulls icon and NBA legend Michael Jordan does the trash-talking, not the other way around. Rap artist Eminem learned that the hard way.

Although Eminem has never met Jordan in person, the 15-time Grammy Award winner does have a particularly funny Jordan story to tell.

With the Jordan Bulls 10-part documentary series “The Last Dance” recently premiering on ESPN, stories of the Hall of Famer have been popping up in recent days. In an interview with Sway on SiriusXM Shade 45, Eminem shared the story of how a comment he made to Jordan created an awkward tension.

The two celebrities were apparently in talks at the time to collaborate on a sneaker design, and at first Eminem said everything was going well.

“We were talking, and everything was cool — and he's super cool — and everything was good,” the rapper said of his talk with the former Bulls superstar. “Until we got the end of the phone call, and I said, ‘Yo, man, when are you gonna come to Detroit so I can dunk on you?' And it was crickets… And I remember getting off the phone going, ‘Oh my god I think I might have just blew it.'”

Jordan has been known as one of the best trash-talkers in NBA history, and he is certainly a figure that demands respect even if Eminem wasn't being serious.

“To me, in my head, it was a total joke, right? It's so ridiculous for me to think I could dunk on Jordan,” he continued. “It was one of those things in my head that was so ridiculous, he has to know I'm joking. But when I got off the phone I remember thinking, ‘I don't think he knew I was joking.' Because he's very — I mean, watching this documentary — he's very competitive.”

Since that call, the two have conducted business together as the Hip Hop legend collaborated with Michael Jordan in 2017 on a signature Air Jordan sneaker.
