The Chicago Bulls backcourt duo of Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine will sit out the rest of the season, with not enough practices to get them back in shape for a return, according to K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune.

This move will put the likes of Cameron Payne, David Nwaba, and Denzel Valentine in full go for the remaining five games of the season, hoping to defend or carve a spot in the rotation coming into the offseason.

Dunn hasn't played since Mar. 15, missing nine straight games while battling a turf toe injury, but has proven to be the starting point guard they had hoped for after trading for him in the offseason with averages of 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.

LaVine has been out since Dunn went out with injury, as it's become clear the Bulls intend to jockey for the best available position in the NBA Draft Lottery. The centerpiece of the return package of Jimmy Butler's trade has put up 16.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in his first season in Chicago, but has struggled replicating his 2017-18 efficiency, shooting only 38.3 percent from the field and 34.1 from deep in 24 games this season.

At 26-51, the Bulls are a full game behind the Brooklyn Nets in the race for the seventh-worst record in the league, hoping to land in a lottery position once the season ends.
