Amid all the craziness of Thursday's 2022 NBA Draft, a rather sparse update on the injury status of Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball emerged. Unfortunately, it's not exactly the good news fans were hoping for.
In all fairness, there really is no negative update on the knee injury of Chicago's prized guard. Bulls general manager Marc Eversley spoke to the press on Thursday and he pointed out that everything's going well with regard to Ball's rehab:
Bulls GM Marc Eversley said Lonzo Ball is working out in LA, still doing his rehab. The Bulls' performance staff is working with Ball and Ball's trainers. "All reports are good," Eversley said.

Eversley on Lonzo: "Currently working out in LA, still doing his rehab."
Bulls have sent performance team to see him every week and get progress reports

As it is, however, it does not sound like Ball has made significant progress on his road to recovery. In fact, Eversley could not even commit to Lonzo being ready for the Bulls' training camp in September:
There's still uncertainly with Lonzo Ball's knee.
Asked if Ball would be playing in regular-season games right now if season was going on, Marc Eversley defers to training staff.
"I certainly hope" he'll be a full participant in training camp next fall, Eversley adds.

That can't be good. Ball missed the second half of the 2021-22 season due to a knee injury and the general expectation was that he's going to be ready to start the new season. At this point, however, this does not sound like a lock. The 24-year-old appears to be in a race for fitness as he looks to bounce back for the Bulls this coming season.
Ball signed a massive four-year deal last year as part of a sign-and-trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. He is under contract through 2025 and is expected to pocket upwards of $60 million over the course of the next three seasons.
