Lonzo Ball's decision to join the Chicago Bulls in free agency didn't come as a surprise. After all, the New Orleans Pelicans didn't believe he's worth the price he was asking for.

However, the Bulls sure did and signed him to a four-year, $85 million deal.

During his introductory press conference on Friday, Ball opened up about his decision to sign with the Windy City franchise. According to the veteran playmaker, the team showed they really wanted him and appreciate his playing style–someone who can be a huge part of the team and really build something special.

“(The Bulls) were the team that stood out that really wanted me for me. I wanted to go somewhere I’m appreciated and can play my game. Chicago is the perfect place for that,” Ball shared, per Bulls twitter.

The Pelicans, for their part, tried to lure Kyle Lowry to New Orleans and even traded Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe for cap space. Unfortunately, they lost in the chase to sign the former Toronto Raptors playmaker and are now without their starting point guard in Lonzo Ball.

Zo will now pair up with Zach LaVine in what should be a high-octane, high-flying backcourt in Chi-Town. Not to mention that Ball has another new weapon to pass to in DeMar DeRozan, who also joined the Bulls on an $85 million contract.

While it's unfortunate fans will no longer be able to see Ball lob to Zion Williamson for electrifying dunks, they should still be treated with a lot more of that when LaVine catches Ball's passes in the upcoming 2021-22 campaign.
