Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey says the Chicago Bulls made the right move by acquiring small forward Otto Porter Jr. from the Washington Wizards at the February trade deadline.

The Bulls traded Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis to the Wizards to get Porter, who has been playing amazing basketball since arriving to Chicago.

Even though the Pistons swept the home-and-home series against the Bulls this past weekend, Casey believes Porter is the perfect type of player for Chicago to build around.

“That was a smart move on Chicago’s part to bring him in and kind of set the tone for that team,” Casey said, via Dana Gauruder of Hoops Rumors. “You always want to have a guy that can shoot the ball and defend with his size.”

In 12 games with the Bulls, Porter is averaging 18.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists. The athletic swingman is shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 49.2 percent from beyond the arc and 88.5 percent from the free-throw line.

With Porter in the mix, Chicago has a nice young core of Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr. and Porter. The Bulls are going to have a high draft pick this season. If the front office can draft an impact player, the team might look pretty good next season.
