Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine estimates he will likely miss a week with his recent quad injury.

“It sucks,” said LaVine on Tuesday, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. “I played through more painful things. I’m just being smart about it. Probably out a week.”

LaVine missed his first game of the season on Monday, when his Bulls managed to get a two-point win over the Dallas Mavericks upon Otto Porter Jr.'s return.

LaVine was deemed day-to-day by head coach Jim Boylen, but it seems like this injury, a Grade 1 left quadriceps strain, will take a little longer to get right. Given that the Bulls are bound for the lottery, there is no reason for LaVine to rush back from the injury.

Boylen said Porter and Wendell Carter Jr., who also recently returned from an extended absence, will play increased minutes against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday while Lauri Markkanen will be re-evaluated Wednesday and even play if he feels good to go.

The Bulls (21-40) will also take on the Indiana Pacers at home on Friday and return to the road for a Sunday tilt against the Brooklyn Nets.

Chicago has been hampered by injuries all season long and Boylen confirmed the last bit of the infirmary report, declaring what many suspected would happen, as defensive ace Kris Dunn will miss the rest of the season with a right MCL sprain.

It's surely not been easy for the Bulls this season, but the hope is that LaVine will be back in uniform sometime next week, hopefully allowing some of the main players on this roster to log some games together before the end of the 2019-20 season.
