The Chicago Bulls and Zach LaVine captured a phenomenal 120-112 overtime victory against the Indiana Pacers Monday night.

When it came down to late-game plays, the Bulls made sure to come together and communicate against a struggling Pacers team. Lavine led the way for the Bulls with 30 points and nine rebounds. But after the game, Lavine explained that it was Thaddeus Young who has been the MVP of the team.

Young had a marvelous game for the Bulls with 13 points and 11 rebounds. He did a phenomenal job of crashing the glass and found himself easy opportunities against a tough Indiana defense. The biggest factor for Young was beating the Pacers defense in Pick and roll situations. Having the connection with the guards was what allowed him to be in the right position at the right time. Tonight’s matchup showed to be a mixture of Young making all of the necessary plays on the floor to capture the win.

Lavine’s statement on Young has been a representation of his impact on the Bulls all season. Young’s veteran presence has been key for his team. Although the team has struggled for most of the season, Young has done a great job at spacing the floor with his shooting and setting picks for his teammates. Young on the season is averaging 11.3 points per game along with 5.6 rebounds.

The double-overtime victory for the Bulls puts the team at 11-15 on the season. As they continue to crawl into the playoff race, the team is only slightly behind the Toronto Raptors for the eighth and final spot in the East. The conference is crowded, and the sixth-place team is under .500. Lots of mediocre teams have a legitimate shot at the postseason. Chicago is very much part of this mix, and it is getting production from sources other than Zach LaVine in the pursuit of a playoff spot.
