Since making his long-awaited debut with the Chicago Bulls last month, guard Zach LaVine has stepped up as a huge offensive spark plug.

LaVine showed his impact on the defensive end on Monday night, nabbing a timely steal late in the final 15 seconds of the fourth quarter that led to a go-ahead dunk that helped seal a win over the Orlando Magic.

The 22-year-old made a smart play in his individual defense on Shelvin Mack before the ball was inbound that forced Mack into a tough position to get possession of the leather. This opened up a prime opportunity to dive in and speed up the court for an easy slam in transition.

Since his return to the court from the torn ACL that he suffered last February, LaVine has been everything and more than the Bulls could have asked to have. He has smoothly transitioned into being the top scoring option averaging 17.3 points per game entering Monday night. He scored in double figures in 10 of the 13 games that he has played this season that includes setting a career-high streak of four consecutive games with at least 20 points topped by a season-high 35 points in the win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

What has also been equally promising is that LaVine has shown no hindrance from the ACL tear while showing the same explosive nature of his play, which was shown in his game-winning dunk against the Magic. He has also continued to build on his offensive skill set with his outside shooting touch and ability to get to the rim off the dribble.

If LaVine can continue to perform at a high level through the rest of the season, it will make him a cornerstone piece of the future for the Bulls to build on alongside promising rookie forward Lauri Markkanen and second-year guard Kris Dunn.
