There is no doubt that Zach LaVine wants to establish himself as the alpha dog for the Chicago Bulls. The 23-year-old combo guard confirmed this himself in an interview with Bulls insider Vincent Goodwill, stating that he is putting in all the work to become the number one option in Chicago.

After being drafted 13th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, LaVine first made a name for himself by winning the All-Star Weekend's Slam Dunk Contest back-to-back in 2015 and 2016.

LaVine then went on to develop his game to become a potent scorer, with his reputation as a highlight reel dunker taking a step back. He was slowly establishing himself as a premier player in Minnesota until a nasty ACL injury stopped him in his tracks.

Last summer, LaVine was in the center of a franchise-altering trade in which the Timebrwolves landed Jimmy Butler. LaVine was shipped off to Chicago together with Kris Dunn as well as the draft rights to Lauri Markkanen.

The 6-foot-5 guard made a triumphant return from a major injury last season, averaging 16.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.8 3-pointers in 24 games for the Bulls.

In the interview, LaVine humbly talked up the potential of an up-and-coming Bulls squad. In particular, he mentioned how excited he was to work with the newest member of the Bulls in Jabari Parker.

However, despite LaVine's clear attempts to build up his teammates and the importance of healthy competition among them, his desire to establish himself as the main man in Chicago was clear as day.
