Two-time All-Star Zach LaVine is expected to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls once the free-agency negotiation period opens June 30, sources told B/R.

LaVine’s free agency has generated plenty of conversation among NBA personnel over the past few weeks. But despite rumblings that the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers will make plays for LaVine, the coveted swingman is likely to remain with his current team.

One point of contentions was reportedly the fifth year of the deal, which the Bulls exclusively could offer LaVine versus other teams. Whether they offer it in its entirety, have it partially guaranteed or with a player option for Zach Lavine to weigh in on remains to be seen.

LaVine was said to covet a situation wherein he becomes the clear-cut primary option on offense, which hasn’t been the case with DeMar DeRozan taking such a leap in Chicago this season. But with no clear destinations that could offer such a setup and a legitimate chance to contend, the Bulls remain LaVine’s best possible situation and likely team that gets his signature.
