Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine's timeline to return from injury has been pushed back seemingly every week after the 22-year-old shows any encouraging signs through his recovery. Now, it seems like his return could come in January instead of December, according to K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune.

Most recently, the high-flying wing was seen windmill dunking in practice and was sent to G League affiliate Windy City Bulls to get a few games on his belt before returning to the NBA hardwood.

“I still don’t know the exact date. I just know when my timing’s right,” LaVine said. “I’m trying to get all the plays down fluently. I like being the best-conditioned person on the floor. That’s what I’ve had the last three or four years in the NBA. Once I get that back, I think I’ll be ready to go.”

The young Bulls would turn into a much better team upon his return, but for now, the Washington native is forced to see most of his action from the sidelines.

“The hard part is just sitting there watching, knowing you can help. I get help from the coaching staff every day. Everybody is still positive. We get the right practices in. And then I start finding my spots in practice where I can fit in, where I can playmake, where I can shoot.”

LaVine is coming off a career-high season, scoring 18.9 points per game in his third year with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He sustained a torn ACL that cut his last season with the team short at 47 games. He's been recovering from his surgery in February.
