Former Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is back in his hometown of Chicago doing a book signing on Thursday ahead of All-Star Weekend. The current Detroit Pistons guard was serenaded with “MVP” chants by the Chicago fans:

Rose got similar chants from the United Center in the two games the Pistons played against the Bulls at the UC. The former MVP remains the most popular Bulls player in the post-Michael Jordan era.

Rose wasn't named an All-Star despite the game being in Chicago and the fact that he's putting up All-Star-caliber numbers for Detroit. The Chicago native also dropped out of the Skills Challenge to rest his hip injury.

In 45 games for the Pistons this season, Rose is averaging 18.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists. He's shooting 49.0 percent from the field, 30.6 percent from beyond the arc and 85.9 percent from the free-throw line.

There are a few Bulls fans who are upset that John Paxson and Gar Forman chose to sign Tomáš Satoranský over Rose in free agency this past offseason. Satoranský is making more money than Rose this season, but D-Rose is putting up way better numbers and probably would have made life easier for Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine.

Both the Pistons and Bulls will likely miss the playoffs this season. Anytime Derrick Rose comes back home, though, he's always going to get a hero's welcome.
