Jakobe Coles, a four-star prospect out of the 2020 college basketball recruiting class, has committed to play for the Butler Bulldogs. This is a relatively important get for the program, as Coles isn't only a talented kid who can probably help immediately, but should end up being in school for four years.

With the double-draft eventually coming, depending on whenever the NBA gets its stuff in order, players who end up sticking around for a full four years will likely be considered an in-demand priority, especially if they're entering the college basketball ranks as a four-star prospect.

That's where the conversation with Jakobe Coles gets a bit funky. Some reputable outlets have him listed as a four-star, with a few pegging him as a higher tier three. However, nearly all agree he's just outside most top 100 boards.

You might find yourself asking: Why is this all gravy for the Butler Bulldogs if the kid is a borderline four star?

First off, the number of stars attached to a kid's name doesn't inherently predict the his future success of failures. Furthermore, the 6-foot-7 talent posted averages of 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game across 18 total games between the Nike EYBL, Peach Jam and Bracket Play events.

Having shot 50 percent from the field, but below 30 from deep, he still has some work to do. Nevertheless, the Butler Bulldogs landed more than just a diamond in the rough. Instead, they landed a quality talent who should be a starter for the program for at least a couple of years.
