The next season of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty Warzone is just around the corner, and with it comes a tidal wave of new content. The game's official website sets the scene for Season 5 Reloaded with the following:

““16… 11… 1… 9… 21…”

Around the world, from the warzone of Verdansk to a Zoo in the Ural Mountains, there are reports of Operators on both sides hearing an unfamiliar voice reciting numbers in their earpieces.

A few have described seeing these “numbers” as a strange visual hallucination, leaving them questioning their own mental states.

These are only reports from the Operators who have returned to base. Others appear to have gone rogue, suddenly turning on their squadmates mid-battle.

Evidence is mounting that these rogue Operators are now only responding to orders from Perseus…

The numbers… what do they mean?”

Black Ops Cold War Season 5 Reloaded:

New Map: Zoo

First off, for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War comes the new Zoo map. This medium-sized map debuted in the original Black Ops Escalation DLC pack from 2011. For its arrival in Black Ops Cold War, it was trimmed down to the main animal exhibit and park areas – designed specifically for 6v6 modes.

New Multiplayer Mode: Demolition

Additionally, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will also be getting the Demolition multiplayer mode. This mode was last seen in Season 3 of Modern Warfare back in 2020 and will be returning now for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Season 5 Reloaded. This game mode is similar top Search and Destroy, but it has respawn enabled. One team of attackers will attempt to destroy a pair of bomb sites, while the opposing team of defenders needs to prevent these dentonations. Moreover, time is extended when the first bomb site is destroyed. Both teams will also be switching between offense and defense during a match duration.

New Zombies Outbreak Region: Armada

A new Zombies Outbreak region will also become available with Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Season 5 Reloaded. This new region, Armada, is set in the North Atlantic Ocean. In the game, it was the site of NATO and Warsaw Pact skirmishes over a sunken prototype nuclear submarine. Additionally, a dimensional rift has caused an intense energy spike in the area, filling it with Aeatherium Crystals, Essence, and undead. There will be Objectives and World Events for players to undertake.

New Outbreak World Event: Requiem

There will also be a new World Event for Outbreak in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Season 5. This new event, Requiem, will include a new Black Chest type. There are no set details for the chests contents just yet, however, with the official website saying: “Much like previous World Events found throughout the Regions, the exact details of this event are for Requiem agents to discover. Once they do, they may find the reward far outweighs the risk…”

New Feature: Rampage Inducer

The Rampage Inducer is also a new feature coming with the new season. It appears as an orange Essence canister in the starting area, temporarily ramping up the difficulty. However, all the members of a squad need to agree to take on the challenge before the difficulty spike can take effect. This canister speeds up zombie spawn rates and makes them sprint endlessly until Round 20.

PlayStation Exclusive Content:

Lastly, for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Season 5 Reloaded, PlayStation players will get some exclusive rewards. Onslaught Drive-In will give them a new map and narrative intel, alongside a new limited-time mode called Diminishing Light. Those who are able to conquer 30 surges in this new mode will get the “Soviet Red” Legendary Assault Rifle Blueprint.

Call of Duty Warzone Season 5 Reloaded:

New Multiplayer Mode: Clash

Kicking things off for Call of Duty Warzone Season 5 Reloaded is a new mode – Clash. This mode will feature 50 vs. 50 combat based on Warzone's Rumble. This deathmatch is based in Verdansk, and selects different areas from this map. Clash will feature unlimited respawns, with the teams racing to earn 500 points. These points are earned by eliminating enemies and competing in Contracts.

The official announcement describes it as “Team Deathmatch” on an epic scale. All loadouts will be available, along with the Ping and Armor System, Cash, Buy Stations, and Vehicles from the regular Battle Royale and Plunder modes.

New Multiplayer Mode: Iron Trials '84

Another new mode coming to Call of Duty Warzone Season 5 Reloaded is the Iron Trials '84. It is described as “the toughest Battle Royale mode to ever come to Verdansk.” You may view the new game mode's details as described by the official announcement below:

“Health and Regeneration: An iron will and a serious constitution is needed to survive, so expect your base health to be increased, and your health regen rate to be changed too. This is set to affect the feel of combat, time to kill, weapon, Perk, and Equipment viability as the entire game is effectively altered!

Loadouts: There are no free passes in this mode! Complementary Loadout Drops have been removed, meaning you’ll need to purchase your preferred weaponry. The cost at a Buy Station has risen, too.

Gulag: The Gulag is open, but the emphasis is on a one-on-one skillful takedown against your opponent. No akimbo. No semi-auto or fully-auto shotguns. Almost no tactical equipment. The only thing standing between you and redeployment is the agility of your trigger finger. Win the Gulag? Then you can drop back into Verdansk… with whatever weapon and equipment you were carrying at the end of your Gulag bout!

Supplemental: Also expect additional changes to environmental elements and a variety of important aspects that impact your Warzone experience. More expansive intel available soon.

Classified Weapons: Be certain you [[REDACTED]] as these can [[REDACTED]], critical information we hope won’t get [[REDACTED]].

There’s no participation trophy for this mode, soldier: Only those placing first will receive the exclusive Calling Card!”

Content heading to both games in Season 5 Reloaded:

In-Game Limited-Time Event: The Numbers Event

The Numbers Event will revolve around Mobile Broadcast Stations around Verdansk, which will be amplifying “Dragovich Program” tapes across the region. This event will begin on September 21 at 10AM PT. Players that interact with these Mobile Broadcast Stations will receive an instant $2,000 cash bonus in the current match. They will also receive an exclusive reward for each unique station activated during the event. This reward may be a Sticker, Calling Card, Charm, or additional XP.

The event will also have a set of nine challenges within Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War based on the new maps and modes coming to Season 5 Reloaded. Overcoming these challenges will unlock cosmetic rewards and a new arcade cabinet game.

New Melee Weapon: Sai

For players that complete all nine challenges within Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War or Call of Duty Warzone, they will receive the Sai – a new melee weapon.

The Sai is a dual-wield melee weapon, the first ever functional weapon to be rewarded in a limited-time event. The official announcement describes it with the following:

“Hundreds of years ago, it was introduced to the island of Okinawa and eventually became adopted by the local police to aid in arresting criminals. For an outlaw like Kitsune, who grew up nearly 1,200 kilometers away in Kobe, wielding one is an irony she relishes.

Its lightweight design allows for improved agility and fast attacks, which is great for taking out zombies or the competition in Multiplayer and Warzone.”

New Limited-Time Outbreak Mode for Hardcore Agents: Survival

The incoming Survival mode coming to Outbreak with Call of Duty Black Ops Season 5 Reloaded is perfect for hardcore players looking for a real challenge. Only the Field Upgrade will be available from the starting loadout, and the primary weapon will be limited to the 1911 handgun. They will also be placed in a random Region, with a disabled overhead map and mini-map. There will also be no music and limited HUD intel. Additionally, there will be no auto-regen, and operators will need food items to heal themselves.

New Operator: Hudson

Special Agent Jason Hudson will be added to the active roster of operators with Season 5 Reloaded. He is described with the following:

“Born and raised in Washington, D.C. with dreams that he would serve his country like his older brother did in World War II, Hudson saw action in Korea before earning magna cum laude honors in one of D.C.’s top research universities and entering the CIA.

From there, he pushed Operation 40 member Alex Mason to his limits to neutralize Major General Dragovich… but nearly 20 years later, Dragovich’s tapes have ended up in Perseus’ hands.

After having Adler and Woods handle the dirty work against Perseus up until this point, Special Agent Jason Hudson is ready to finish the fight once and for all, even if it means taking a detour into the Dark Aether.”

Other Bundles that will be available with Season 5 Reloaded:

  • Limited-Time Tracer Pack: Judge Dredd Store Bundle
  • Tracer Pack: Ghost Ship Mastercraft Store Bundle
  • Tracer Pack: Oktoberfest Store Bundle
  • Chemical Reaction Pro Pack

Will the Season 5 Reloaded update be enough to salvage the season's current negative outlook? Guess we'll have to find out.
