The Arizona Cardinals are far from done when it comes to improving their roster. In fact, they made a couple of moves on Tuesday by adding Patrick Mahomes' former weapon to the fold.

As Adam Schefter of ESPN noted, the Cardinals have signed former Kansas City Chiefs running back Darrel Williams to a one-year deal. In a related move, they also released RB Jaylen Samuels.

Darrel Williams spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Chiefs after going undrafted in 2018. He has improved his numbers every year after being seldomly used in his rookie season. In 2021, he actually had a career year with seven starts in 17 games.

The opportunity he got with the Chiefs allowed him to record 558 rushing yards for six touchdowns and 452 receiving yards for two touchdowns. He certainly had a more significant role as an extra weapon for Patrick Mahomes beyond Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.

It remains to be seen how the Cardinals plan to use him, but they are certainly hoping he can continue improving and up his numbers once again. Who knows, a change in scenery and a bigger role might be exactly what he needs to break out and be a bigger threat on the field.
