On Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals hired Kliff Kingsbury as their new head coach. Ironically, they made their team name the “Arizona Kardinals” with a K to celebrate the new hiring of Kingsbury.

Kingsbury has been rumored across the entire league to get a new head coaching gig. The New York Jets and Green Bay Packers had reported interest in him. The Packers ended up with Matt LaFleur, the former Tennesse Titans offensive coordinator. Kingsbury declined the coaching offer from the Jets and decided to go with the Cardinals.

During his time with Texas Tech, they always seemed to have a successful and dynamic offense every year. However, their subpar defense led them to be mediocre overall. He coached there for six years finishing with a 35-40 total record. They reached three bowl games in his time in Texas and won only one.

He was fired only two months ago from Texas Tech. Two weeks later, the University of Southern California hired him as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

USC originally had not given him permission to interview for NFL coach gigs, but it seems as if he did anyways or received permission from the school to do so.

Last season the Cardinals went 3-13 under head coach Steve Wilks. They were one of the worst teams in the entire NFL. Wilks' offense only averaged 14.1 points per game, which ranked dead last in the league. They also allowed 25.6 points per game, which ranked 26th overall in the NFL.

The new era under Kingsbury should usher a more modernized offensive attack with their young quarterback Josh Rosen.
