While the Arizona Cardinals are enjoying some off-time before the start of the 2022 NFL offseason, it seems James Conner already has an idea of where he'd like to play next year. Conner and the team will have to go through the offseason process, but he could be getting an early jump for free agency.

According to Sports Illustrated, James Conner wants to return to Arizona. “With the opportunities they gave me and the relationships I built there, I would love to continue out there. As a free agent, I'm excited to see what's next. I'm a man of faith so I know it will all work out for me.” It makes sense, as Conner went bonkers for the Cardinals throughout the season.

Considering how consistent he was, it would be wise for the Cardinals to bring him back. Conner finished the year with an impressive stat line, consisting of, “752 yards on the ground and 15 touchdowns on 202 carries,” per Sports Illustrated.

We'll see how the offseason plays out, as the Cardinals have a solid roster throughout. Bringing back James Conner and potentially Chase Edmonds gives the front office the leisure to focus on other areas of need. There is no reason to believe this duo can't repeat their performances this season. If that's the case, Arizona should remain as a playoff contender.

The 2022 NFL free agency period opens in March, but the Cardinals will have a chance to re-sign Conner and Edmonds if they choose to do so. If not, they should be able to find a new home elsewhere rather quickly.
