The Arizona Cardinals have been banged up for the majority of the season. They lost All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to injured reserve after he only played about half the season. James Conner and Chase Edmonds — the two-headed monster at tailback — have taken turns missing time with injury. They also lost three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt to injured reserve earlier this season.
Well, in a surprise twist, they might be getting Watt back for the postseason.
We have designated DL J.J. Watt to return from the injured reserve list.
Watt can begin practicing and can be activated to the 53-man roster at any time during the next 21 days or at the conclusion of the three-week period. pic.twitter.com/OAr983Wo3P— Arizona Cardinals (@AZCardinals) January 7, 2022

The team designated Watt to return from injured reserve earlier Friday. He can begin practicing with the team and could be activated anytime in the next 21 days. According to ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, Watt is hoping to practice next week. He has his sights set on being able to play the following weekend, which is Wild Card Weekend.
Watt is less than 10 weeks removed from shoulder surgery that was believed to keep him out the rest of the year.
The Cardinals are currently the No. 5 seed in the NFC Playoffs. However, with a win Sunday over the Seattle Seahawks and a Los Angeles Rams loss to the San Francisco 49ers, they would jump the Rams and win the NFC West. That would give them at least one home playoff game.

However, if those two scenarios do not play out, the Cardinals will likely be on the road throughout the playoffs. That might actually suit them well, as Arizona is 7-1 on the road this season. After losing three straight games and the lead in the division, the Cardinals went to Dallas and got a much-needed victory last week.
