The Arizona Cardinals could potentially part ways with running back David Johnson this offseason, via Josh Weinfuss of ESPN
Johnson was once considered to be the future face of the Cardinals. However, he's played horrendous over the last few seasons. In 2018, he had a disappointing season rushing for 994 yards on 258 touches. Last season, he recorded 715 total yards and six touchdowns and was benched at the end of the season.
Johnson signed a three-year, $39 million extension in 2018 is expected to be owed $10.2 million in 2020. He'll carry a $14.25 million cap hit in 2020 and the Cardinals will be stuck with $16.2 million in dead money if they decide to cut him.
Nonetheless, Johnson is only 28 years old so it'll be easier for the Cardinals to trade him this offseason. Johnson is arguably still a talented player, however, the Cardinals may not be the best fit for him.
The Cardinals will most likely resign running back Kenyan Drake this offseason. Drake played outstanding with the Cardinals rushing for 643 yards and scoring eight touchdowns. The 25-year-old could expect to earn a four year, $25 million contract this offseason.
