The NCAA National Tournament is on pause, as it will resume this Thursday for the Sweet 16 round. That does not mean, however, that there would also be a scarcity in basketball madness this week because the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Boston Celtics just teamed up for one of the craziest finishes this season Tuesday night in TD Garden.

The Thunder were ahead during the dying seconds of the fourth quarter, even leading Boston by five points after Russell Westbrook made one of his two free throws with 12.7 seconds left on the game clock. This signaled the start of Oklahoma City’s doom, as Celtics guard Terry Rozier quickly hit a three-pointer on the other end of the floor.

Carmelo Anthony would then head to the free throw line after getting fouled by Marcus Morris. Melo botched both attempts, giving the Celtics a chance to either tie the game or win it with a three, which they did after Morris drilled a three-pointer off a kick-out pass from Jayson Tatum.

The Thunder called a timeout to design one more play with 1.2 seconds left, but Westbrook missed a 29-foot heave, giving the Celtics an improbable 100-00 victory.

The loss snapped the Thunder’s six-game win streak, while Boston got a nice bounce-back victory after losing to the New Orleans Pelicans last Sunday. That the Celtics managed to take down Oklahoma City minus the injured pair of Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown only made the win even sweeter.

Tatum paced the Celtics with 23 points, while Morris chipped in 21. The bench delivered for Boston, too, as Greg Monroe and Shane Larkin had 17 and 13 points, respectively.
