Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens has earned his reputation as one of the best young coaches in the league today. He’s particularly famous for terrific after-timeout plays, which are a testament to the fine attention detail he puts into coaching.

And in preparing for Gordon Hayward’s arrival in Boston this season, Stevens also revealed that he studied the Utah Jazz's plays in terms of how they utilized Hayward in order to make his transition more comfortable.

Obviously, all that preparation went up in smoke just minutes into the season as Hayward suffered a likely season-ending leg injury on his debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

It remains to be seen whether Hayward will still be the same player he was in Utah after suffering such a major injury. Hayward faces an uphill battle getting to the All-Star level he reached in his final season for the Jazz, on top of the fact that he’ll still need to adjust playing with his new Celtics teammates.

Regardless, Stevens will likely continue to look for ways to get Hayward in a position to succeed when he does finally make a full recovery from his injury and gets back into the Celtics’ lineup.
