The Cleveland Browns are winless this season and are basically functioning as the NFL’s all-purpose doormat of the league more than anything else. Still, that’s no reason for their official Twitter account to deploy a funny troll job hurled at the direction of former Cleveland Cavaliers point guard, Kyrie Irving.
Amid the thousands of fans gathered at the Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday night for the Cavs first game of the season against the Boston Celtics were three Browns rookies in Myles Garrett, David Njoku, and Jabrill Peppers. The three were even pictured together with Browns legend, Jim Brown.
Sensing an opportunity to make a stir on social media, whoever was it behind the Browns' Twitter account decided to edit Peppers’ No.2 Kyrie Irving Cavs jersey by adding a “3” to make it appear as though the safety was wearing a LeBron James uniform.
It’s a minor addition that required just a simple stroke on MS Paint, but it did send a message, albeit on a funny note, that Irving is being disowned by Cleveland.
Whether Peppers wasn’t aware that Irving is no longer playing for the Cavs or that he just idolizes the point guard so much, Cleveland would’ve preferred him wearing a flat-earther’s uniform than that of another No.2 ex-Cleveland athlete.
