Utah Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell couldn't help but be amazed by Jayson Tatum's performance on Sunday, exploding for 51 points to lead the Boston Celtics to a huge 116-87 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Tatum got off to a hot start and never cooled down, scoring 31 points in the first half alone to give the Wizards no chance at all. The young forward went 18-of-28 from the field–including 9-of-14 from 3-point territory–and added 10 rebounds and seven assists to his tally.

Some even thought that Tatum is going for 60 points, but regardless, it kept everyone glued on the game throughout. For Mitchell, he just wanted Tatum to “chill” following an incredible start.

While Donovan Mitchell wanted Jayson Tatum to take it easy near the end of the game, it is easy to understand why the Celtics star wanted to make a statement.

The Celtics have been struggling as of late, and Tatum is a major culprit due to his poor play. In fact prior to Sunday's game, he went 0-of-17 from the 3-point line in their last three games–with his overall shooting clip from beyond the arc falling to 31.1 percent from his career averages of 38.0 percent.

It remains to be seen if Tatum can keep the momentum going as the season progresses, but him breaking out of his slump certainly came at a good time. The win over the Wizards put them at 0.500 (24-24) and in good position to contend for the playoff spots.
