As in past years, this season's All-Star selections have been nothing short of controversial. One player who many folks feel deserved a spot in the All-Star Game is Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown.
The former third overall pick has been fantastic for the C's all season long and has been playing the best basketball of his entire career. Currently, Brown is averaging 20.4 points (on 49.7 percent shooting), 6.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.2 steals while also knocking down 2.1 triples per game on a 37.9 percent clip. More importantly, he has been one of the biggest reasons why Boston is sitting at the third spot in the East with a 33-15 record.
Recently, Brown opened up about his All-Star snub and revealed why he isn't too worried about not making the cut:
“Ain't no reason to cry over spilled milk,” Brown said, via NBC Sports Boston's Chris Forsberg. “Getting ready to head into the playoffs is what my mind is on right now. All-Star break, I'll probably go on vacation, get my body and mind right to get ready for the playoffs.”
Jaylen Brown obviously has more important things in mind right now than playing in what would have been his first-ever All-Star Game. The 23-year-old is wise beyond his years and is definitely not going to let this disappointment get in the way of what he and the rest of the squad has set out to do this season.
It's going to be a tough road ahead for a very young Celtics side, who will need to go through the likes of strong Eastern Conference teams in the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and Indiana Pacers if they hope to challenge for the title this season, so Brown and company will need to be extremely focused on their objective moving forward.
