According to a tweet posted this afternoon by reporter Chris Forsberg of ESPN, it appears that the Boston Celtics (23-5) likely will be quite short-handed on Monday night when they travel to take on the lowly Chicago Bulls (5-20) at United Center.

Already ruled out tonight for the Celtics are two key players in superstar point guard Kyrie Irving (left quad contusion) and power forward Marcus Morris (left knee soreness). Boston, who won 91-81 last night on the road against the Detroit Pistons, will rest both Irving and Morris for tonight's contest.

Al Horford, who led the Celtics in scoring last night against the Pistons with 18 points and nine rebounds, is also listed by the team as questionable for tonight's game against the Bulls with a right knee contusion.

Forsberg also added that since this is the second night of a back-to-back, the Celtics are probably playing it safe by resting some key players who are dealing with injuries.

“Kyrie went to the bench early in the first quarter vs. Pistons and took his left shoe off. Seemed to be trying to stretch out his leg a bit. Guess here is that he tweaked it a bit early and Celtics are being cautious on B2B,” Forsberg said on Twitter.

This will be a great opportunity for the Celtics' young rising stars in second-year shooting guard Jaylen Brown and rookie small forward Jayson Tatum to step up while the team is short-handed.
