Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry's comments on the moon landing raised eyebrows and caught the attention of NASA along with major news outlets like CNN. Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics had some interesting thoughts about how Curry's comments were perceived.

“Everyone feels like they have a place in this world to kind of question anything or question somebody,” Irving told Darren Hartwell of NBC Sports Boston. “Look at what social media has done nowadays. Anyone can say anything on Twitter. But one thing someone says with a (verified) blue check (mark) next to their name is the biggest thing going.

” … We live in America, where people say s— all the time about one another. And it's mean, bad, kids see it. Like, everyone gets a piece of it and then it's the next story, the next thing that's coming out of someone's mouth.

“And there's world hunger going on, there are political things going on, there are so many higher things in the totem pole in society that matter to human beings. But hey, Steph Curry says that he doesn't believe in the moon? It's the thing all over. It's on CNN. And they say we're just jocks. We're just athletes. But it's on your channel. You know what I mean?”

Irving had his own issues with believing a conspiracy theory. Irving famously pushed flat Earth conspiracy theories to the chagrin of many. He has since walked back his beliefs on this, but it's clear he still has some hard feelings about the situation.

On one hand, believing that the Earth is flat is ridiculous. But on the other hand, it can't be easy to be a public figure like Irving and have every single statement scrutinized by the public. That's part of what Kyrie Irving was talking about when he commented on Curry's moon landing conspiracy.
