Cleveland Cavaliers big man Tristan Thompson took a shot at the rest of the Eastern Conference Thursday afternoon when he said the Cavs are still the team to beat in the East.

Boston Celtics small forward Marcus Morris quickly responded.

Does Tristan Thompson know that LeBron James is no longer on the team? Look, the Cavs might surprise some people this year and sneak into the playoffs, but they're not going on any type of run if they make the postseason. Thompson is talking like a guy who puts up All-Star numbers and is one of the best players in the league. While you have to appreciate his swagger, Thompson has career averages of 9.0 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. No one is afraid of him or the Cavs.

Marcus Morris and the Celtics are the heavy favorites to win the Eastern Conference this season. Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward are back healthy, which has all of Boston excited. The Celtics were a game away from reaching the NBA Finals last season and they did that without the services of Irving and Hayward, so expect Boston to be even more dangerous this season.

Thompson also called out the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors in his rant. The Sixers are led by two young studs in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, while the Raptors acquired two-time Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard this summer. Someone might need to check Thompson for a concussion or something because his comments make no sense at all.
