Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving is a very, very strange athlete. Whether it's claiming the world is flat or see-sawing back and forth between what he is going to do in free agency this summer, Irving tends to drive sports fans crazy.

Celtics forward Marcus Morris says that because of who Irving is, the media hangs on every word he says and may put their own spin on it:

“He's a guy that's very polarizing in the NBA and the world so everything he says, even if it's not really that serious, it's going to be taken out of proportion,” said Morris following the Celtics' 113-99 win over the New York Knicks on Friday night, according to The Associated Press. “But like I said, he still comes in, he's a professional. We all love him, we all want him here.”

Irving finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists over 36 minutes in the win and heard cheers from Knicks fans throughout the game. Afterward, Irving said he was appreciative of the love, but that anything coming out of the media right now is just “noise”:

“Like I said, I'm appreciative of the fan support I get in any arena, but of course coming back home,” he said. “Obviously what's going on in terms of that noise and commentary is just a bunch of nonsense right now. Can't do anything about it so I'm just accepting, I'm appreciative, but at the same time I've got a game to focus on.”

In spite of Anthony Davis trade rumors and debate surrounding Irving's future with the organization, the Celtics have been rolling, winning eight of their last nine games to improve to 33-19 on the season.
