The Boston Celtics are now ready to move on from their failed attempt to acquire Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans. They are also preparing themselves for the departure of All-Star guard Kyrie Irving.

The Celtics will continue to find ways to improve their roster heading into next week draft, and one of the possibilities they have explored is trading their three first-round picks for players who are already in the league, according to a report by Adam Himmelsbach of Boston Globe.

Even if Irving departs, the Celtics remain optimistic about the state of the franchise. They hold the 14th, 20th, and 22nd picks in this draft. Even though some, if not all, of those picks likely would have been shipped out in a Davis deal, sources said the pursuit of Davis did not affect the team’s draft preparations, as they carried on, business as usual.

According to a league source, the Celtics will continue to explore ways to potentially use some of those picks in deals for other current players, but that nothing was imminent.

The Celtics' three first-round picks should entice some teams in the league, especially those who are planning to rebuild. However, Boston will likely ask for a talented young prospect or a proven veteran in return if it releases some assets.

At this point, the Celtics will try to build around the talented young duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Both guys were instrumental in their run to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. If they can replicate their success that season and lead this team to the playoffs, the future looks bright for Boston.
