Gordon Hayward of the Boston Celtics just unleashed a crazy step-back 3-pointer that made the Toronto Raptors look silly.

As observed, right after the step-back move, Hayward's defender was nowhere near him. The Celtics bench and fans were also caught by surprise by the amazing move.

It's always a welcome sign when one of your best players unleashes such a move. This is Hayward's comeback season from that gruesome leg injury over a year ago. While he's been putting up decent numbers this year, Celtics fans haven't seen the Hayward of old. He once was a high-volume scorer who put up at least 20 points a night.

While he did score 35 points on Jan. 2 in their 115-102 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, it may take a whole season for Gordon to regain that confidence back. He himself admitted that he still hesitates driving to the lane and challenging the towering defenders.

“I think most of that is probably from a lack of confidence in going to the basket and challenging bigs — especially at the beginning of the year,” Hayward said, per  Yaron Weitzman of Bleacher Report. “I think that’s the last part that’s not all the way back yet.

Sooner or later, we should expect the 28-year-old to return to form. This season, Gordon Hayward is averaging 10.9 points on 41.8 percent shooting from the field. Once this happens, we'll see more than just step-back threes.
