The Los Angeles Chargers were dealt their first major blow of the year with the season-ending knee injury to tight end Hunter Henry. He has finally issued a statement on the disappointing series of events.

Henry tore his ACL during a non-contact portion of organized team activities. He put up a heartfelt post on Instagram regarding the injury:

“I haven’t known what to say or what to think since the injury happened,” Henry wrote. “I’ve been full of emotions of all different kinds. It’s been hard to know that I can’t get out there with my guys. I know that God has a plan and He is almighty even in this chaos. It is hard to grip that when He does things like this, but I know He is in control. I am trusting in Him and trusting the process. I will work harder than ever and attack every single day. I Will be Back! #comeback #boltup”

The injury certainly deals a blow to the Chargers. Henry showed plenty of promise in his first two seasons after being selected in the second round of 2016 NFL Draft. Since then, he has hauled in 81 receptions for 1,057 yards and 12 touchdowns.

As a result, he was pegged as the heir apparent to take tight end Antonio Gates' spot. That said, the timing could not have been any worse for the chargers after parting ways with him this offseason. Los Angeles now has a major void to fill at the tight end position.

Regardless, it is encouraging to see that Henry has an optimistic outlook on dealing with his injury. There is no doubt that he will be able to return to form next year.
