Chelsea is preparing to lose one of their best defenders this summer as their club takeover continues to be in the works.

Antonio Rudiger, who has yet to sign a new deal with the Blues, will depart Stamford Bridge in June. Per Goal:

As noted, Real Madrid is the current favorite to sign the Chelsea center-back. He's been absolutely brilliant for Thomas Tuchel's side this term, making 28 Premier League appearances and also scoring three goals. The energy the German brings to the pitch is unmatched, never mind his fantastic pace and defensive abilities.

Rudiger is currently battling a groin injury and his absence was felt by Chelsea earlier in the week, losing 4-2 to Arsenal in a shocking defensive performance. It will be extremely difficult for the Blues to replace a player of Rudiger's caliber.

If the Chelsea takeover was already done, there would be a good chance he signs a new deal. But, it won't likely happen until May and the Germany international wants stability for his future. If Madrid does end up signing Rudiger, they will be getting one of the best center-backs in Europe without a question.

Now, it's time for Chelsea to find another reliable defender to fill the void left by Antonio Rudiger. That will be a tall task.
