On Thursday, an interview surfaced that Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku did with Sky Sports Italy three weeks ago. Coincidentally enough, it was published at a time where the Blues are struggling to find their form. The Belgian essentially said that he isn't happy with how manager Thomas Tuchel is utilizing him in the Chelsea formation and on Friday, the German responded to these comments.

Via Football London:

“We don't like it of course because it brings noise we don't need and it is not helpful. We don't want to make more out of it than it actually is.

“It's very easy to take lines out of context, it's very easy to shorten lines, make headlines then later realise it's not so bad and not what he meant,” the Chelsea boss continued.

“Let's be honest, we don't like it, I don't like it because it's noise we don't need. We need a calm environment and focus and that does not help.”

Tuchel is certainly spot on. This is the last thing Chelsea needs right now as they try to stay within reaching distance of the title race with Man City currently eight points clear at the top. The Blues boss also made it clear that he believes Lukaku is actually happy at Stamford Bridge:

“Not at all. I don't feel him unhappy, I feel the exact opposite. If you ask me yesterday morning, I would say I feel the exact opposite that's why it is a surprise but I'm the wrong person to ask.”

Lukaku just returned to action after a lengthy absence with an ankle injury then a bout with COVID-19. He's scored in back-to-back games for Chelsea and will be in line for another start in a huge clash with Liverpool on Sunday.

Despite the 28-year-old's displeasure with the situation, Lukaku did clarify that he will make the most of it and keep doing his absolute best to contribute more goals. Let's hope Tuchel and his talisman can bury the hatchet and focus on the task at hand.
