The January transfer window is quickly approaching, a time for football clubs across Europe to bolster their squads with signings. Chelsea meanwhile, who have spent lots of money across the last two summers specifically, don't have any plans on bringing in new talent as Thomas Tuchel revealed recently.

Via Adam Newson of Football London:

“We are not in talks right not about bringing in players because we trust our squad and we hope to bring all players back and be at full strength.”

This certainly makes sense because, in all honesty, Chelsea isn't exactly in need of any reinforcements. They reunited with Romelu Lukaku in the summer and after a flying start to the campaign, the Belgian suffered an injury on international duty and just returned to the Blues.

Ahead of their clash with Everton on Thursday, Chelsea is also dealing with injuries to N'Golo Kante, Trevoh Chalobah, and still Ben Chilwell, who is slowly recovering from a partially torn ACL. Mateo Kovacic is sidelined as well due to COVID-19.

The Blues were sitting pretty in top spot but after tasting defeat at West Ham earlier this month, they've fallen to third place and sit five points behind Manchester City, who just put seven past Leeds on Tuesday. With a depleted squad, it will be tough for Chelsea to compete for a title but hopefully, that will change in the new year.
