The Science Fiction Survival-Horror RPG Chernobylite will launch as a full title this week. It will also be making its way to consoles in September. Developers The Farm 51 released the game on Steam as an Early Access title in 2019. A full release came two years later on Steam, followed by a console release just a little bit after. But now, the game also have the next-gen treatment. Here is when the Chernobylite Release Date was for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and the Xbox Series X.

Chernobylite Release Date: July 28, 2021 (Steam), September 28, 2021 (PS4 and Xbox One), April 21, 2022 (PS5 and Xbox Series X

Chernobylite full version came out on PC on July 28, 2021. The game then received its console release on September 28, 2021. Finally, the game's next-gen release came in April 21, 2022.

Chernobylite features “a hyper-realistic 3D scanned wasteland of Chernobyl's exclusion zone.” The Farm 51 utilized photogrammetry techniques to create the game's 3D environments. They began experimenting with these techniques in their previous game, Get Even. This then led the team to discuss what they thought would be an interesting location to recreate with photogrammetry – later on deciding on Chernobyl. Those discussions would eventually spark Chernobylite.

The game puts players in the shoes of Igor, a physicist and ex-employee of the power plant. He is tasked to return to the zone to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée, which happened 30 years ago. During his return to the exclusion zone, he will face off against both human and paranormal enemies.

Additionally, the game has survival genre staples like base-building, crafting, and stealth. It also requires some amount of resource and team management. According to the developers, the game currently averages around 25 hours of gameplay. Throughout its two-year tenure as an Early Access title, it has seen a revamped intro, rewritten dialogues, re-recorded voiceovers, reworked environments, and other improvements. Chernobylite boasts very positive reviews in both its PC and console releases, and we can imagine that the game will continue receiving positive reviews once it reaches the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
