Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas will surely be one of the most highly sought-after free agents on the open market this offseason, but Bleacher Report's Chris Roling thinks the Kansas City Chiefs should beat everyone to the punch and sign him.

It would definitely make sense, as the Chiefs are currently starving for defense.

Kansas City ranked just 31st in the NFL in defense this season, allowing 405.5 yards and 26.3 points per game.

Thomas would join Eric Berry to potentially form one of the most lethal safety duos in the NFL, provided that both players can stay healthy, of course.

Thomas played in just four games this season due to a broken leg, finishing with 22 tackles, three interceptions, and five passes defended. When he is right, Thomas is one of the best defensive backs in the league, as evidenced by his six Pro Bowl appearances and three First-Team All-Pro selections.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Texas, was originally selected by the Seahawks in the first round (14th pick overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

He immediately made an impact during his rookie campaign, racking up 76 tackles, five picks, a forced fumble, and seven passes defended. He then proceeded to make five straight Pro Bowls, earning all three of his First-Team All-Pro selections during that span.

Thomas was a member of a Seahawks defense that went to back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 2013-14 and 2014-15, including a win over the Denver Broncos in the former year.

However, in spite of Roling's suggestion, Thomas is widely expected to sign with either the Dallas Cowboys or the San Francisco 49ers.
