Welcome to the NFL, Mr. Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The Kansas City Chiefs unveiled their new offensive weapon as they opened their 2020 NFL Season against the Houston Texans on Thursday night with an impressive 34-20 win.

The Chiefs rookie made an outstanding debut to announce his arrival in the league as he totaled 138 rushing yards in 25 carries with a TD to boot. Edwards-Helaire becomes the first running back to rush 100+ yards and score a touchdown in his first ever NFL game since Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants.

Barkley, for his part, opened his NFL career with 106 rushing yards in a loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018. He would go on to eventually be named the Rookie of the Year as well as make it to his first Pro Bowl selection. And with Thursday night's performance, it's quite easy to picture Edwards-Helaire being on the same trajectory as Barkley was early in his career.

The LSU alum scored his first-ever touchdown on an incredible 27-yeard run in the second quarter after the Chiefs successfully bounce back from an early deficit. He would continue his impressive debut and was a great complement all-evening long to the Patrick Mahomes-led offense. The 5'7″ RB is surely looking like he's more than ready to compete at the highest stage.

The Chiefs offense was already rolling last season as they ran away with the Lombardi behind an impressive season from Mahomes and other offensive stalwarts in Travis Kelce and Tyreke Hill. Adding a fiery RB like Edwards-Helaire to the mix only makes Kansas City even more dangerous as their offense becomes even more diverse and explosive.
