Kansas City Chiefs rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire just made his NFL debut and it was sure a historic one.

The Chiefs opened up their 2020 campaign with a huge 34-20 statement win over the Houston Texans on Thursday night as the new NFL season officially kicked off. The rookie running back didn't shy away from the bright lights as he started his rookie season with an impressive 27-yard touchdown as the Chiefs broke away in the second quarter. The former LSU standout would end his debut with 138 rushing yards on 25 carries.

With Thursday's performance, Edwards-Helaire becomes just the fourth player in the last 30 seasons to tally at least 130 yards and score a touchdown in their NFL debut. And, per ESPN, each of the three previous ones went on to win either a Rookie of the Year award or a rushing title on their respective campaigns.

He also became the youngest player to notch a 130-yard, one rushing TD performance in his NFL debut.

Not bad for a first professional game, huh?

This year's 32nd overall pick is looking to show everyone that he's one of this year's draft steals and with his awesome debut, he's definitely on his way to do so. It was the first time Edwards-Helaire officially took the field and joined the already-potent offensive line for the Chiefs with Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins and Tyreek Hill ā€” who also each scored a touchdown in the season opener. To date, Kansas City has now won 10 straight games since last season including the infamous comeback win over the Texans in last season's playoffs.

After getting an early glimpse of the new-look Chiefs on their first game this season, the addition of Edwards-Helaire looks to show that their offense will be scarier than ever as the season progresses. It's pretty early but their 2020 Super Bowl defense is off to a blistering start.
